Seniors Helping Seniors Workshops

We are celebrating our 10th anniversary as a Canadian registered charity. From a single workshop on Falls Prevention to 44 sessions on topics ranging from health and wellness to practical information about financial and legal issues, Seniors' Health and Wellness Institute Society, COSCO, has grown to become a vital information link for seniors across the province. We continue this work thanks to a cadre of volunteers and topic experts who advise, enhance and support our efforts. In addition, donations and grants support our ability to further create and develop new topics of interest, while also keeping our workshop sessions relevant and up to date.

As we enter the virtual world of presentation, we are grateful for both the seniors who have attended our workshops and the varied hosting organizations that support them.

We are now accepting workshop bookings for September and beyond. To book a virtual session for a group of seniors, click on "How to request a workshop for your group".

We look forward to supporting your efforts to support seniors. In the meantime, stay safe and well.

Barb Mikulec, President

We are now offering many of our workshops online. You may now book online sessions for September onward. Please check out the Workshops page and our Brochure for details as to which workshops are available online and how to book them.

Due to concern for the health and wellness of our fellow seniors, we cannot provide face-to-face workshops at this time. If your preference is for face-to-face workshops, please continue to check this page for updates regularly. We will announce our return to in-person sessions as soon as it may be safely possible.

The Seniors' Health & Wellness Institute (COSCO) provides free workshops to seniors groups throughout BC. We currrently have more than 40 workshops available for presentation by trained facilitators which provide practical information but are not intended to provide specific legal, medical or financial advice.

Our workshops are developed by consulting with experts in their fields to ensure all information is up-to-date and accurate.

Where possible, we offer workshops to non-English seniors. Many of our workshop handouts are available in Chinese, Japanese, Spanish and Punjabi. We thank MLA Michael Lee Community Office for their support in providing Chinese translations for many of our workshop handouts.

All workshop information is presented by a facilitator using a PowerPoint presentation. Each participant is provided with a handout of key points and they are encouraged to use this new information to help modify their behaviours to increase their chances of staying safe and well.
